Carmela oversees claims administration and litigation from initial coverage and claims analysis through resolution, including management of outside counsel, negotiations, mediations and reporting.

Carmela has over 25 years of experience as an attorney handling a wide variety of civil litigation and insurance defense matters including medical malpractice, nursing home negligence, construction defects and breach of warranty claims.  Carmela also has a highly specialized background in legal research, writing and coverage, including drafting briefs on coverage issues such as denials, policy exclusions and endorsements, as well as authoring appellate briefs.

Prior to joining TransEleven, Carmela worked as a Litigation Attorney with an

AV-rated law firm in Boston focused on serving clients in the areas of trial and appellate practice, insurance coverage counsel and litigation. Carmela managed insurance defense cases, including construction litigation involving multiple parties and complex contract disputes.  In addition, she successfully mediated and arbitrated insurance defense and construction dispute actions and handled coverage matters.
 

Carmela owned a law firm handling civil litigation and contracts and she has also served as Assistant Corporate Counsel for The City of Waterbury.  Carmela is also a former Legal Editor for Lexis-Nexis and has served as an Alternative Dispute Resolution Analyst for John Hancock Life Insurance Company.  She also has additional legal experience serving as an Adjunct Professor and instructor for multiple educational institutions.
