ABOUT JAMES

As Managing Counsel, James is responsible for certain PL/GL programs. 

James also oversees claims administration and litigation from initial coverage and claims analysis through resolution, including management of outside counsel, negotiations, mediations and reporting.

​James has over 30 years of experience as a litigation attorney with a career focus on insurance defense litigation, handling matters in areas such as personal injury, civil and commercial liability, premises liability, product liability, medical malpractice and insurance coverage disputes.  James tried over 100 cases to jury verdicts and has argued cases in both the state and federal appellate courts.

Prior to joining TransEleven he was Coverage Specialist with USLI, where he identified and evaluated insurance coverage, bad faith and excess liability issues, while actively managing outside coverage counsel in litigation throughout the United States and Canada.  Before joining USLI, James was a partner with the insurance defense firm Thomas, Thomas & Hafer.  James has over 20 years of experience managing large legal teams.  He has worked as a Managing Attorney, leading in-house attorneys and legal staff for Selective Insurance.

In addition to a distinguished legal career as a partner in two insurance defense firms and working for national insurance companies, James has municipal government experience, having served as borough solicitor and zoning hearing board solicitor.  James is also a former board member of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association.
